When you finish reading a book, or tire of listening to a CD or watching a DVD you face several choices;
• pass on to a friend
• sell as second-hand
• put in a bin
• give to a charity shop
Launched Summer '07,OnlyOnePound puts a new twist on the last option. Re-cycle it and raise money for WaterAid and Sightsavers at the same time. Neither charity has High Street shops so this is a great way to trade online and target your donations.
You can list your unwanted books, CDs or DVDs and other site users can buy them for the bargain price of £1.65* (Non UK residents can use the site - see FAQs)
£1 of every purchase goes to WaterAid and Sightsavers.
• To list a book etc, you need to be a member - membership is FREE. You DO NOT need to be a member to buy a book, cd or dvd. Join Here
• At the top right of every page in the site you can Log In with your username and password then follow the links, in the Members Menu, to list an item for sale.
As a member you will have access to your own site area, where you have the following options:
• Create Advert - Add an unwanted Book, CD or DVD to the website.
• Edit Advert - Edit a Book, CD or DVD advert you have already posted.
As a seller your only commitment is to post your book, cd or dvd to the buyer within 7 days.
When a book is bought you receive a confirmation e-mail giving you details of where to send it.
The seller pays for postage - in the Auctions Section the buyer pays for the postage. A typical paperback should cost up to 75p to post second-class. CDs and DVDs usually less. It should still be cheaper than the postage charged by a famous online book site. Ok – in our case it is the seller paying and making that commitment – but in any transaction the postage has to be paid!

And here is the really neat trick - when you have finished with that book, cd or dvd you got from Only One Pound, why not recycle and re-list it on the OOP site - just think, one book could raise a fortune - so far Gulliver's Travels has been bought and relisted several times!
If the purchaser feels the item deserves more than a £1 they can return to OnlyOnePound and make a further donation – the full amount, of this donation, will go to Water Aid and Sightsavers International.
